Lamorinda Soccer Club is a proud member of the best leagues for player development — locally and nationally. LMSC's teams participate in leagues that correspond to where players are on their development journey.

stages of development

LMSC's focus on long-term player development sets us apart. We focus on development a stages rather than ages. Here’s what you can expect on your journey from day one, understanding that it’s part of a full process of player growth.

  • 1. Introducing the Game

At this early stage the objective is to create an enjoyable soccer experience. We use small-sided games that are fun and engaging while also teaching basic skills necessary for an individual’s soccer development. This program is designed to bridge the gap between recreational and competitive programs.

  • 2. Mastering the Ball

As players get older, they are ready to learn technical skills. We introduce individual tactics and help players develop good habits in training and games that prepare them to transition to the next level.

  • 3. Playing Together

At this stage, passionate soccer players are ready to improve their technical skills (doing) in tactical situations (decision-making) through the same training.

  • 4. Working in Systems

The objective at this stage is to prepare select, passionate players for advanced play at the collegiate soccer, professional, and national team levels. This preparation is elite — from the premier coaching to the high level of competition.
